Dream
“The feeling of abandonment overwhelmed me as I realised that no one had waited, or cared where I was.”

Chapter Text
Yoongi has a dream.
He stands in the grandest, most extravagant room he’s ever seen. A huge crystal chandelier, two staircases, hand-painted silk wallpaper.
But it is dark, and dusty, and empty. Like no one has been there in a hundred years.
How could someone build such a house and then leave it? How can this opulent ballroom be hiding in the shadows of this forgotten mansion…
How does this happen? How can something so important be left behind?
Something so grand, and beautiful, and way out of his league.
His mind struggles to comprehend that someone used to live here.
It makes him feel in equal parts jealous and angry. He wants it even as he disdains it. It makes him feel small and unworthy. But he feels like, for all the world, if he had anything like this, he would never take it for granted.
He would care for it diligently. He would remember every day how blessed he was to live somewhere this beautiful.
Who could have just left this here, as if it meant nothing? Who could have been this callous?
And then…how heartbroken must they have been when they had to leave this place. This beautiful place. And to know that age and rot and darkness would overtake it, feeling that the house itself would cry, knowing it was once so stunning and now no one looks, no one cares.
Abandoned.
Yoongi is tentatively looking through drawers, finding silver and china and linen tablecloths, a handwritten recipe for spicy chicken broth, a card from a baby shower. A silver necklace with a pendant, the letter N.
A leather-bound box filled with old family photos. Vacation pictures of Jeju Island, Hawaii.
If he ever owned anything this precious, he would never let anything happen to it. He would never lose it as long as he lived.
Suddenly, Yoongi’s alarm goes off, and he lifts his head and immediately drops it again. He is so, so tired.
